Gratitude?! What do you mean?

Updated: Oct 28, 2020

We know you hear about gratitude a lot. You feel like you can't use it this year because there is just too much going on, right?! It is scary, overwhelming and downright bizarre. THIS IS EXACTLY when we need a tool like gratitude the most.

Your brain will take you down the rabbit hole of what is going wrong. It is how we are wired, before we had safe homes and plenty of food, we needed to be on alert to survive.

So, you watch or read longer when there is disaster. It's like you can't turn away. It is normal programming, we are wired to watch for threats but when you are overwhelmed by constant "threats" your actions become scattered, your precious resources are drained...and you probably feel it. You are easily annoyed, nothing is working or worth it. Where is that white flag and bottomless bottle of wine?! Can't someone bring a getaway car?!

Ready to try something "new"?

Welcome a daily gratitude practice! It's not the same old answer of being grateful for the things that you have taken for granted (although it can be helpful).

A daily gratitude practice is taking a few valuable moments to pay attention to and recall the things that are going right and actually working. Anything you noticed today?! Were you able to appreciate it in the moment? How does it feel to recall it?

Get settled in to creating this habit and it helps combat those feelings of being helpless and overwhelmed. You have so much working in your favor: you are designed to feel, care and connect. Gratitude can help you have more energy and power for the things you care about, the things you need to get done, the things you want to change.

It just takes a moment and some practice!

A moment of genuine gratitude can help everything shift. Even if the world doesn't change, you do and so does your perspective. Now, you are aligned and ready to move forward!
